Home Sweet Korean Home

Yesterday I was talking to my friend Donna...she was my neighbor when we lived on base at Wiesbaden, Germany. Since Germany Donna has gone to Alaska and is now in Japan. When thinking about moving to Korea I thought it would be fun. We really liked Germany but LOVED Japan. Yesterday Donna told me I was brave to move to Korea and off-post too. It got me thinking. Before we got here I was scared to death. Things were perfect in Georgia. And I also have a child with Type 1 Diabetes for crying out loud...I was very scared but Steve and I love adventure so we did everything we could to make things work. We spent hours looking online on living conditions here. The Drs. at Emory University and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta helped out too by finding out about the care we could get for Madi here. So we are here and love everyday living in Korea.

Okay, so besides the location of our house/apartment and the big windows in every room, the kitchen is my favorite I have ever had!
We didn't bring much of our own furniture...just bits and pieces. So for our dinning room table in this house it's a table we used as a sofa table before with a few mixed matched chairs. I brought small stuff thinking they could be used in the kitchen, dinning room, living room....

I have my own built-in TV there in the corner...love it.

My craft room is at the end of that hall on the left and the master bedroom is on the right.

At the end of this hall is a bathroom. On the left are two rooms...one for Madi and one for Ben.

This morning before school Madi was sitting reading me a book aloud...life is good in Korea.

I had been enjoying your blog when you were in Georgia and was the happy receiver of many good ideas that you shared. I am really enjoying reading about your time in Korea. It is very interesting to me that I get to visit and I haven't even left my chair. It seems that you and your husband have done everything you can to ensure a positive experience for your family. What fun to see your Korean home and how you've made it homey for your sweet fam, Jeni! I saw your 'scary tree' as Bryce called ours in Germany and it made me smile! Oh how I wish we were neighbors again. It would be so fun to swap holiday decorating ideas and to just hang out and visit. Good memories, indeed!

Oh Jenny! your house look lovely, so beautiful! I hate so much the place where we live that I found myself very unplacent to decorated my house, still the point I haven't settle all the decorations that brought with me. It is good to know that you love to live here in Korea!
In my case I can't wait to go back every day is a battle.

Jeni,
You have the knack for making anything beautiful. I love you new home. I remember you moving in next door and Germany and taking the time to pant your home..even though you knew you would have to paint it back. I really enjoy seeing Korea through your eyes. I am praying a Commissary comes open and Kenny gets the job. You Rock.

Smiles,

Donna
